COL. NOAH LANE FARNHAM OF THE II, NEW YORK VOLUNTEER REGIMENT DIED AT WASHINGTON CITY AUG 14, 1861 OF WOUNDS RECEIVED WHILE GALLANTLY LEADING HIS REGIMENT, IN THE BATTLE OF JULY 21, 1861. HE WAS ONE OF THE EARLIEST MARTYRS AND MOST BELOVED BY HIS COMRADES.
