MAJOR GENERAL SIGEL AT THE OUTSET OF THE CIVIL WAR FORMED A REGIMENT THAT HELP KEEP MISSOURI AND ITS FEDERAL ARSENAL FOR THE UNION. HE FOUGHT IN SEVERAL DECISIVE CAMPAIGNS INCLUDING PEA RIDGE AND THE SECOND BATTLE OF BULL RUN.
